
Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit in Blue Hills, CT

Your Role:
As a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, you will work under the guidance of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Your responsibilities will include:
• Ongoing assessment of patients' physical and psychosocial condition throughout their continuum of care.
• Collaboratively developing, communicating, and documenting individualized plans of care that involve patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Implementing and coordinating care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
• Evaluating plan effectiveness and making necessary adjustments to enhance patient outcomes.
• Planning educational sessions based on patient and family learning needs, documenting outcomes of educational efforts.
• Acting as a preceptor for new staff members.
• Taking charge of the nursing unit as needed, overseeing unit activities and delegating tasks.
• Demonstrating exceptional customer service, teamwork, and resource utilization as per performance expectations.
• Contributing to the overall smooth operation of the department/unit by performing assigned additional duties.
• Exhibiting proficiency in neuro patient care and understanding airway management processes for such patients.
• Skillfully assisting in special neuro procedures and managing patients with tracheostomies.
• Performing various suctioning procedures following established protocols.
• Demonstrating competence in the care of patients with ventilators and those in halo braces.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Proficiency in electronic patient records and the ability to perform internet literature searches for patient care references.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of acute nursing experience is required, with critical care or emergency experience preferred.
Licensure: Must hold a valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License.
Special Skills: BLS certification required.
