POSITION SUMMARY
Full-time (0.8 Status or 32 hours per week)
Assists with the planning, and evaluation of Hemodialysis services and provides nursing care for dialysis patients in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, licensure, and scope of practice.
Delivers hemodialysis services to chronic outpatients and will provide treatment to inpatients and acute patients as needed.

Wage: 32.00-49.46

RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitates the coordination, and integration of interdepartmental care and services provided to dialysis patients.
Assists with training of new staff members.
Participates in the department's Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program ensuring staff participation in the process and identifying opportunities to improve patient outcomes. This can include daily, weekly, and monthly audits.
Assist with the process of ensuring the department is in compliance with the requirements of regulatory agencies.
Utilizes the nursing process in providing care and including the process in documentation, identifying unusual conditions, and utilizing initiative judgment to carry out appropriate responses.
Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the Nephrology team and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.
Observes, assesses patients, records significant conditions, and reactions, notifies supervisor of patient's condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents throughout the progression of care.
Operates and monitors Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system.
Administers prescribed medications, and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and scope of practice.
Receives, transcribes, and communicates physician orders.
Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors in nursing or Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in an approved accredited Registered Nurse Program. Minimum of one-year experience in a medical/surgical unit is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Holds or is eligible for current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of South Dakota and may be required to apply for a Minnesota RN license.

Required Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to utilize the nursing process and the guidelines established by regulatory agencies in the assessing, planning, delivery and evaluation of care to patients. Must be able to competently perform all technical nursing skills within the framework of licensure and scope of practice. Must have the ability to deal tactfully with hospital personnel, patients, families, physicians, and the general public.
