
Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery - Full Time in Gilliam, LA
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to mothers and their newborns. This position requires independent practice and the ability to manage various clinical situations effectively. The RN will deliver both routine and complex care while focusing on long-term patient goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Exhibit leadership qualities as a Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders in alignment with OneCHRISTUS Competencies.
• Deliver nursing care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice through the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for assigned patients.
• Support the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families, in accordance with the nurse's level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols, ensuring monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and provided care accurately and comprehensively.
• Assess educational needs and provide relevant information to patients, family members, and caregivers.
Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: BLS required; RN License in the state of employment or compact.
Position Requirements:
Newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first month. They will receive guidance from a designated preceptor and complete necessary competency validations. All annual competency verifications must be completed post-hire.
Experience:
Preferred candidates will have either completed a Perinatal RN Residency or have recent experience in a Perinatal Setting.
Certifications:
• Current certification from one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
• Current NRP certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
