Labor and Delivery RN Job Summary Labor & Delivery RN for community hospital. Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit. This includes monitoring fetal heart rates, assisting with deliveries, and providing postpartum care. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills and experience in labor and delivery, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities • Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs. • Assist with sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation). • Perform NST (Non Stress Tests). • Conduct reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus. • Perform Sterile vaginal exams. • Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring). • Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. • Start & maintain peripheral IVs. • Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring. • Administer medications including anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline. • Assist with amnioinfusion. • Assist with vaginal delivery and circulate for C-section. • Recover C-Section patients. • Collect cord samples and perform ID/Security Banding. • Perform Neonatal Resuscitation. • Provide Infant Identification. • Assist with Epidural Anesthesia and General Anesthesia. • Administer Opioids and manage pain. • Provide Breastfeeding Support/lactation support. • Perform Episiotomy/Incisional Care. • Insert Foley Catheters. • Provide Fundus/lochia/perineum care. • Manage patients with Bladder Distension, Multiple Births, Postpartum Hemorrhage, and Pregnancy induced hypertension. • Assist with D & C and Tubal Ligation procedures. • Provide care for patients undergoing vaginal deliveries and Cesarean Sections. Required Qualifications • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience. • Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring experience. • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (CA). • Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP • COVID-19 Vaccine: Required + Booster - Medical/Religious Exemptions only • Flu Vaccine: Required - Medical/Religious Exemptions and Declinations Allowed Preferred Qualifications • Charting System Experience • AWHONN Intermediate Certification Skills & Competencies • Facility births/month 100-200 • Labor and Delivery • Antepartum Care • High Risk Antepartum Care • Level I Nursery • LDRP • Triage of obstetrical patients • Asthma • Cardiac disease • Diabetes mellitus • HELLP Syndrome • HIV • Infectious disease • Malpresentations (breech / face / brow) • Multiple Gestation • Placenta Previa/Abruptio • Pre-eclampsia / eclampsia • Premature Rupture of Membranes • Preterm labor • Uterine rupture • VBAC management / trial of labor • Assist with high risk delivery • Forceps/vacuum extraction • Hemorrhage/shock • Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome • Newborn Assessment • Newborn hypoglycemia • Thermoregulation • Isolation Precautions/PPE Shift Details • Night 3x12-Hour (18:00 - 06:30) • Every other weekend required. • 12 hours orientation.
