The Greater Manchester Region includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group, and visiting nurse services. Serving a population of 300,000 across 19 towns, we are committed to excellence in care.
Position Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in Maternity Services, you will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Your role will involve collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient management. You will communicate patients' clinical conditions effectively and respond promptly to changes in their conditions. Your expertise in growth and development principles will allow you to provide age-appropriate care to our diverse patient population. We encourage professional development through collegial support and mentorship.
Qualifications:
• Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current licensure in the state of Connecticut required.
• Preferred previous LDRP experience.
• Must acquire ACLS and NRP certifications upon hire and maintain clinical competency.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required upon hire.
• Electric Fetal Monitoring Certification to be obtained within one year of hire.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of maternal and newborn conditions, considering psychosocial, physical, educational, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Assess and manage patient pain effectively, utilizing appropriate management tools and techniques.
• Develop individualized care plans, reassessing the effectiveness of interventions based on patient responses.
• Ensure safe medication administration by following the five medication rights.
• Provide all aspects of patient care throughout Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Well Newborn phases.
• Document nursing processes and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and critical thinking in fast-paced scenarios.
• Implement and evaluate teaching plans for patients and families based on identified needs.
• Practice autonomously, adhering to evidence-based standards, and pursue continuous personal and professional growth.
• Maintain fetal monitoring competencies and respond effectively to fetal heart rate patterns.
• Identify and respond to indications of inadequate newborn transition to extra-uterine life.
