Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 3x12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night); schedule includes every-other-weekend coverage and may require floating to other OSU units
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
• Deliver safe, compassionate Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing care to adolescents, adults and geriatric patients
• Continuously monitor telemetry and promptly identify/communicate dysrhythmias and acute changes
• Administer medications, IV therapy and blood/blood products following facility protocols
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Provide patient and family education on conditions, meds and discharge planning
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, respiratory, pharmacy, social work) to coordinate patient-centered care
• Perform specialty care tasks as needed (feeding tube management, tracheostomy care, wound care, stroke assessments)
• Participate in rapid response and emergency management for cardiac events when required
Qualifications
• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Ohio)
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience (explicit requirement)
• BLS required (facility requirement)
• EPIC experience required for charting and documentation
• ACLS and CPI preferred (strongly desired)
• Proven skills in IV starts, patient monitoring, medication administration and patient education
• Comfort with floating to different units within the OSU organization
• Ability to work night shifts and every-other-weekend coverage
Knowledge & Skills
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Med-Surg nursing fundamentals and high-acuity rehab care
• IV therapy: starts, maintenance, venous blood draws and port care
• Administration of blood & blood products and complex medication management (anticoagulation, antiseizure, diuretics)
• Tracheostomy care/management and respiratory support (pulse oximetry, suctioning)
• Feeding tube care/NG/PEG management and swallow precautions
• Wound care, specialty beds and mobility/assistive device knowledge
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and safe lift/transfer techniques
• Proficiency with EPIC for charting and documentation
• Strong patient education, teaching and communication skills
