As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise patient care in accordance with established unit policies and procedures. You'll also supervise non-RN personnel, and in the charge nurse role, delegate and oversee unit activities. Flexibility to work across various nursing units may be required as needed. You'll perform additional duties to ensure the highest level of service is provided. Responsibilities • Continuously assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout their care journey. • Develop, communicate, and document individualized care plans, involving the patient, family, and healthcare team in the process. • Implement and coordinate care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. • Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and adjust as necessary based on the patient's response and readiness for discharge. • Plan and provide education based on the individual learning needs of the patient and family, and document educational outcomes. • Serve as a preceptor to new staff members. • Assume the role of charge nurse as needed. • Meet performance expectations encompassing customer service, teamwork, and self-development. • Perform any additional duties as directed to ensure smooth unit operations. • Demonstrate competency in caring for neuro patients, including assessments and airway management. • Assist physicians with neuro procedures and care for patients with tracheostomies. • Understand and effectively implement our 'TIA' teaching program. • Perform various suctioning procedures as per established guidelines. • Demonstrate proficiency with equipment and care for patients using a halo brace. • Understand nursing responsibilities for ventilated patients. Qualifications Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Proficiency in electronic patient records and literature searches is essential. Experience: Not applicable. Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Connecticut. Special Skills: BLS certification required. Additional Information: • This department focuses on oncology nursing and supports patients undergoing cancer treatment. • We provide a holistic approach to cancer care, including medical, surgical treatments, and supportive services. • Oncology and/or neuro experience is highly preferred. • Various RN positions available. • Specializations include neuro med oncology, skin and kidney/melanoma medical oncology, neuro surgery, and GU.
