Work Schedule: • Night shift • 7 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.; 48 hours/week • Every third weekend • One summer and one winter holiday rotation Pay: The hourly pay ranges from $38.29 to $61.16, based on experience. Job Overview The Registered Nurse in the Med-Surg Unit provides individualized, efficient, and effective nursing care for hospitalized inpatients and hospital-based outpatients. Key Responsibilities: • Adapt to various areas of the medical center as needed, according to established floating guidelines. • Utilize critical thinking to apply best practices based on patient data for prompt decision-making. • Monitor and respond to changes in clinical conditions, communicating effectively with the care team using SBAR. • Involve patients and their families in care plans, ensuring educational needs are met from admission to discharge. • Mentor orientees, co-workers, and students, promoting a culture of learning. • Engage in professional development to stay current in nursing practices and share knowledge with the team. • Participate in departmental meetings, forums, volunteer opportunities, and various training sessions as required. • Adhere to medication administration protocols to ensure safe practices. • Improve patient care quality through documentation and adherence to best practice standards. • Coordinate with care providers to ensure comprehensive care across the patient continuum. • Prepare for emergencies by actively participating in safety and response protocols. • Contribute to the development of the hospital's trauma program adhering to established guidelines. • Participate in improvement projects that enhance patient experiences and operational efficiency. • Join interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate patient care plans. • As a Unit Charge Nurse, oversee care coordination and execution on your assigned shift. • Foster a positive team culture by leading engaging shift huddles and ensuring effective communication. • Plan effectively for resource allocation and manage staff assignments regarding patient care while considering safety and efficacy. • Document any incidents or care issues and communicate them during shifts to ensure continuous improvement. Qualifications: • Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification within 180 days. • Active RN license in the state of practice upon hire.
