Job Title
• Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical
Location
• Juneau, AK
Schedule / Job Type
• Full-time, 12-hour night shifts, on call as needed
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients before and after surgical procedures and those receiving pharmaceutical treatments for illness management.
• Utilize equipment such as computerized charting and Meditech to document patient information accurately.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment on the Med/Surg unit.
• Assess patient conditions, implement individualized care plans, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Support the unit’s operational needs, including managing a patient load of 6 patients per nurse.
Required Qualifications
• Valid State of Alaska Registered Nurse licensure.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant nursing experience, depending on level.
• Successful demonstration of critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Experience in acute care settings and familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic charting systems.
• Ability to handle routine and emergency nursing duties independently.
• Leadership experience or capacity to assume basic leadership responsibilities for RN II and RN III levels.
