The Maternity Suite is a beautiful unit providing exceptional care and support to more than 1,100 growing families each year. The unit includes a Labor and Delivery (L&D) Unit and a Postpartum Unit, featuring a 7 bed labor area with 3 triage bays and 2 ORs. The unit takes pride in its multidisciplinary approach to patient care, a culturally sensitive delivery experience, and low C-section rates in Massachusetts. The PostPartum Unit offers 12 private rooms with a level 1b continuing care nursery, focusing on the vital integration of mothers and infants from birth through the early postpartum stages.

The Postpartum RN plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive assessment and care for both mothers and newborns during the postpartum period. Responsibilities include:
• Continuous evaluation and care of mothers according to established guidelines.
• Ongoing assessment of newborns, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
• Providing educational support to maternal newborn dyads from birth to discharge.
• Coordinating discharge planning and follow-up care for mothers and infants.
• Engaging in quality improvement initiatives within the maternal newborn unit.
• Adhering to clinical practice guidelines set by AWHONN, ACOG, NRP, and AAP.
• Completing necessary competency programs as required by the unit.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• BSN preferred.
• Current MA RN Licensure.
• Current AHA BLS or ARC BLS required; NRP certification required prior to completion of unit orientation.
• Prior mother-baby/nursery experience required; Level 1B nursery experience strongly preferred.
