The Maternity Suite at Cambridge Hospital is an exceptional environment with stunning views and a dedicated team that supports over 1,100 growing families each year. Our unit includes both a Labor and Delivery (L&D) Unit and a Postpartum Unit. The state-of-the-art labor unit features 7 beds, including 3 triage bays and 2 operating rooms, while we pride ourselves on our multidisciplinary patient care, culturally sensitive approach to labor and delivery, and our exemplary low C-section rates.
The PostPartum Unit is designed to nurture both mothers and their infants, boasting 12 private rooms and a Level 1b continuing care nursery. We are committed to couplet care and fostering early family bonding, enabling smooth transitions from birth to discharge.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide ongoing assessment and care for mothers during postpartum periods.
• Administer care and assessments for newborns following established guidelines.
• Educate maternal-newborn dyads from birth to discharge, ensuring understanding and support for new parents.
• Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care for mothers and their newborns.
• Engage in quality initiatives within the maternal-newborn unit, enhancing patient care continuously.
• Maintain clinical practice in compliance with AWHONN, ACOG, NRP, and AAP guidelines.
• Complete all required competency programs related to maternal-newborn care.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• BSN preferred.
• Current Massachusetts RN Licensure.
• Current AHA BLS certification required; NRP certification is required prior to completion of unit orientation.
• Experience in mother-baby/nursery roles required; Level 1B nursery experience is strongly preferred.
