Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Night: 7:30 PM - 7:30 AM), 3x12-hour shifts per block, Day/Night rotation with every-other-weekend coverage; rotation cycles every 4 weeks
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide high-acuity neurocritical care for adult patients, including post-craniotomy and cerebrovascular surgery care
• Manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator management, including BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC support
• Monitor and manage intracranial pressure (ICP) and external ventricular drains (EVD)
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central/PICC lines and arterial lines, and administer blood products safely
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips as ordered
• Perform and interpret ABGs and assist with procedural sedation monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory, PT, pharmacy, rapid response) to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed and participate in required on-call coverage
Qualifications
• BCLS (BLS) required
• ACLS required
• NIHSS (AHA certification only) required
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience (strong neuro background expected)
• Epic EHR experience required
• Proven skills in IV start, telemetry, ventilator management and ICP monitoring
• Travel experience required (screening applies for first-time travelers)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
• Neuro ICU and critical care nursing principles (CVA/stroke management, post-neurosurgery care)
• Ventilator management and respiratory support (mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC)
• Intracranial pressure monitoring and external ventricular drain (EVD) care
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• IV therapy, arterial line and central/PICC line management, phlebotomy
• Emergency response, procedural sedation monitoring and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
• Wound care including surgical wounds with drains and wound vac management
• Familiarity with Epic charting and documentation workflows
