Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, Nights EOW (every other weekend), Nights primarily Fri/Sat; 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule; first to float
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $69 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for neuro/telemetry patients including stroke, TIA, seizure, and TBI
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and promptly recognize and respond to dysrhythmias
• Perform bedside shift report and contribute to excellent patient experience and HCAHPS scores
• Collaborate with the team, including monitor techs, RTs, unit aides, and nurse leaders to ensure safe patient care
• Administer and titrate set-rate protocols as required (e.g., heparin, amiodarone, diltiazem set rates) following hospital policy
• Participate in unit initiatives focusing on stroke measures and core quality metrics
• Float to IMCU or Med/Surg when needed and adapt to changing patient acuity
Qualifications
• Current RN license (eligible to practice in California)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
• Must pass facility dysrhythmia exam and be comfortable interpreting strips from GE Apex telemetry
• Minimum 2 years specialty experience in neuro/telemetry preferred; open to first-time travel RNs
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• COVID vaccination required per facility policy
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in weekend rotation
Education
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Stroke and neuro nursing best practices and stroke core measures
• Dysrhythmia recognition and response
• IV drip management including heparin, amiodarone, and diltiazem set-rate protocols
• Familiarity with respiratory supports: HFNC, BiPAP, CPAP
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-focused bedside reporting skills
• Comfort charting in Cerner EMR and working with monitor techs
