The E3 unit is a dynamic telemetry and Progressive Care Unit with 25 beds, staffed by a team of highly skilled nursing and healthcare professionals. We specialize in caring for complex stroke, vascular, neurological, and specialty surgery patients alongside intermediate care cases. Our focus on innovative technology and patient-centered care creates a healing environment for both patients and families. JOB SUMMARY As a Registered Nurse, you will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, developing strong nurse-patient relationships throughout the process. Qualifications • Recent graduate of a nursing program; BSN preferred. • Prior RN experience preferred; completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program is a plus. • Current, unrestricted RN license in good standing in Connecticut. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. • Willingness to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire. • Ability to pass a dysrhythmia test within 3 months of hire. • Must achieve a score of 80% or better on the BKAT, or complete a critical care course within one year of hire. • Certification in Progressive Care (PCCN) or Critical Care (CCRN) preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Solid understanding of nursing principles and practices. • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information clearly. • Ability to multi-task, demonstrate flexibility, and work as a team player in a fast-paced environment. • Commitment to exceptional customer service and maintaining patient confidentiality. • Proficient in basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval. • Strong analytical skills to assess situations and respond effectively to changes and emergencies.
