Clinical Nurse (RN) – Neonatal ICU (NICU)

Our Clinical Nurses (RN) in NICU independently perform clinical care to infant patients.  Working with a dedicated team, the RN provides evidence-based, high quality care to critically ill newborns and serves as a resource for other team members. Our 26 bed, Level III NICU is a part of the Family Childbirth and Children’s Center at Mercy.

Certification Requirements: Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS upon hire • Specialty Certifications: PACU, ICU, Cath Lab, Angiography, Lung Center, McAuley Surgery Center - ACLS within 1 year of hire NICU/PEDS - NRP within 6 months of hire ED - ACLS within 6 months & ENPC or PALS within 1 year of hire Mother/Baby, Labor & Delivery - NRP within 6 months of hire Telemetry - ACLS within 1 year of hire or within 18 months if new grad • Other Requirements: Critical thinking Prioritization • License Requirements: RN License • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Education and Work Experience:
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED
• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and successfully completed the State Board of Nursing Licensure Exam
• BSN Preferred
• Must possess 0-1 year of current clinical experience
• Must obtain 10 Contact hours per year, fifty percent of which must be clinically focused. Academic course credits may be used on a 1:1 credit hour exchange.
