Position: Registered Nurse (Nurse Manager) - Med-Surg/Oncology The New York Harbor VA Healthcare System is recruiting a Registered Nurse (Nurse Manager) for the Med-Surg/Oncology Chemotherapy units. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: • Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. • Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. • Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. • Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. • Equips staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. • Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). • Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. • Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. • Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. • Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. • Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence based cutting-edge programs/processes. • Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting. • Leads the implementation of high reliability principles and I CARE values to increase consistency of care delivered and improve patient outcomes. • Cultivates alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. • Demonstrates the ability to improve the effectiveness of communications and interactions with others, to inspire their cooperation and confidence to ensure safe and effective outcomes in the current practice setting. • Leads education initiatives to expand knowledge and applies evidence-based practice/research resulting in improved outcomes in the immediate practice setting. • This position may require additional duties as assigned.
