
Registered Nurse - Nursing Unit Supervisor in Farmington, MI
Job Description
As a Registered Nurse - Nursing Unit Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of a nursing unit within a long-term care facility. Key Responsibilities:
• Manage unit operations, including hiring, training, and evaluating nursing staff.
• Facilitate meetings to address resident care issues and promote continuous improvement.
• Ensure the highest quality of care by monitoring clinical operations and resident conditions.
• Develop and implement recruitment, retention, and continuing education programs for nursing staff.
• Communicate effectively with physicians to ensure timely interventions.
• Optimize staffing patterns to meet resident needs while adhering to budgetary constraints.
• Oversee the acquisition of medications, supplies, and records to ensure safe and efficient care.
• Assist in orienting new staff and provide guidance to team members needing support.
• Participate in the facility's Quality Assurance program.
• Perform additional tasks as needed to maintain unit operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong leadership and motivational skills.
• Effective communication abilities with residents, families, and staff.
• Knowledge of state and federal healthcare requirements.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Cultural competence to work with diverse populations.
Qualifications:
• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school; a degree is preferred.
• Licenses/Certification: RN license in the state of employment; valid CPR teaching certificate.
• Experience: Minimum three years of nursing experience, with at least one year in a long-term care setting.
