POSITION SUMMARY: As a Registered Nurse in Maternity Services, you will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager. Using the nursing process, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care. You will effectively communicate changes in patient conditions and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care. Qualifications: • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. • Current licensure in Connecticut. • Previous LDRP experience preferred. • Must obtain ACLS and NRP certifications within one year of hire, maintaining clinical competency. • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required upon hire or during the introductory orientation period. • Electric Fetal Monitoring Certification must be obtained within a year of hire. COMPETENCIES: • Effective communication in English - verbal and written. • Basic computer skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and may evolve with time. • Conducts comprehensive assessments and reassessments of maternal and newborn conditions. • Utilizes pain management tools and educates patients and families on pain management strategies. • Develops and revises individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and families. • Ensures safe medication administration and minimizes errors by following the five medication rights. • Provides care across all areas including Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn Care. • Documents nursing processes and responses accurately and promptly. • Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and sound judgment in prioritizing tasks. • Implements educational plans for patients and assesses their effectiveness. • Engages in autonomous practice aligned with evidence-based standards, fostering personal and professional growth. • Exhibits knowledge of fetal monitoring principles and responds to abnormal patterns effectively. • Identifies signs of inadequate newborn transition and supports families through these challenges.
