Summary
Job Title: Registered Nurse – Oncology
Location: Carroll Hospital, Westminster, MD
Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Overview:
Carroll Hospital, a LifeBridge Health Center, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse – Oncology to join our dedicated oncology team. This is a full-time, on-site role providing direct patient care and support to individuals undergoing cancer treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under physician supervision
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures as needed
• Assess patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions, including abnormal lab results, drug reactions, and clinical changes
• Document nursing assessments, medication administration, and patient education accurately in patient records
• Manage and educate patients/caregivers on infusion pump use for home care
• Facilitate dose modifications in collaboration with the physician, based on patient status and treatment protocols
• Ensure proper preauthorization and consent documentation for therapies
• Maintain knowledge of reimbursement and complete all chemotherapy charge forms
• Triage patient calls, manage refill requests, and document communications thoroughly
• Adhere to infection control standards, universal precautions, and OSHA guidelines for handling hazardous materials
• Support hospital safety goals and regulatory compliance standards
Requirements:
• Current Maryland RN license
• Ambulatory Infusion experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to educate and support patients and caregivers effectively
• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive communication style
Certifications (Required Upon Hire or Within Specified Timeframes):
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification – within 1 year of hire
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) Certification – within 2 years of eligibility
(Eligibility: Minimum 2 years of practice and 2,000 hours in oncology nursing in the past 4 years)
