Registered Nurse Oncology | Marrero, Louisiana in Marrero, LA

A specialized nursing opportunity is available for candidates with experience in malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), or oncology. This role is oriented toward professionals who hold certification in oncology chemotherapy and immunotherapy and are ready to apply their skills in a dynamic clinical setting. Candidates with experience in BMT will be given preference and can expect comprehensive orientation to the unit’s specific protocols. Location: This position is based in Marrero, LA, a vibrant community offering a warm climate, rich culture, and proximity to various recreational and historical attractions. Marrero provides an excellent balance of suburban living with convenient access to metropolitan areas. Responsibilities: • Provide expert nursing care for patients undergoing bone marrow biopsies, central line management, and blood/bone marrow transplants. • Manage patient care at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio to ensure quality and safety. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive oncology treatment. • Adapt to unit needs, including floating between departments if BMT census varies. • Work night shifts on a schedule of three 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). • Participate in weekend and holiday rotations to maintain continuous patient care coverage. Qualifications and Experience: • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in malignant hematology/BMT or oncology (ONS chemo certification required). • Current ACLS, BLS, NIH certification, and completion of ONS chemotherapy/immunotherapy course. • CPI certification preferred. • Strong clinical skills in oncology nursing and bone marrow transplant patient management. Schedule: • Night shifts – 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM). • Weekend and holiday coverage required; flexibility to float within departments. • Coverage during Mardi Gras season with limited time-off requests.
