Type of Opportunity: PRN FTE: 0 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: Varied Days and Hours (United States of America) Key Responsibilities: • Deliver direct patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of patient needs and responses. • Coordinate care by collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team. • Perform assessments and document on relevant databases. • Initiate and document protocols and standards of care. • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to established policies. • Identify and address patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout care. • Evaluate patient progress and document accordingly. • Completely handle emergency situations competently. • Delegate appropriate tasks to team members based on validated competencies. • Provide leadership by communicating effectively about patient care. • Assist in various procedures, treatments, and surgical techniques. • Complete required education and competency testing for patient population and protocols. • Demonstrate required psychomotor skills proficiency. • Help orient new staff or students, serving as a resource and professional role model. • Maintain professional responsibility for nursing standards of care and supervision of LPNs and non-licensed personnel. • Incorporate PHS mission (VVPS) in caregiving activities. • Support shared governance and models of care delivery as defined by DON philosophies. • Meet PRN connection agreement requirements. • Exhibit flexibility in meeting patient care needs across departments. • Take on leadership roles (e.g., relief charge nurse) as needed. • Fulfill other functions as required. Performance Standards: • Engage in unit/department governance. • Adhere to PHS professional dress code and display ID badge. • Document continuing education activities. • Maintain positive communication and relationships with patients and team members. • Participate in quality improvement efforts. • Exhibit punctuality and reliability in attendance. • Complete mandatory inservices and licensure requirements on time. • Follow safety and equipment policies. Qualifications: • Associate Degree in Nursing required. • Current State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License. • BLS certification required at hire. • ACLS and PALS certifications needed (Surgical Services). • Previous OR experience highly preferred.
