Job Overview:
As a Registered Nurse, you will collaborate with dynamic interdisciplinary teams focused on a patient-centered model of care in a diverse environment. Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, you will employ evidence-based practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and medical staff directives. Your role involves utilizing the nursing process to create comprehensive care plans that address the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of patients and their families.
Qualifications
• Minimum Requirements
• Education: Graduate of a school of nursing.
• Experience: One (1) year of experience or completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• License and Certification: Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Connecticut; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred Requirements
• Education: BSN or MSN.
• Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience in the specific clinical area.
• License and Certification: Certification in clinical area; Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Foundation in nursing principles and practices.
• Effective communication skills for relaying complex information and instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with departments, employees, physicians, managers, and patients.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain flexible in a team-oriented environment.
• Capability to work effectively under stress with a strong commitment to customer service.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
This role requires high-level analytical skills to gather and interpret information from diverse sources. You must respond appropriately to changes, problems, and emergencies while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
