
Registered Nurse - Orthopedic Care in Lexington, SC
Job Description
Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide both direct and indirect nursing care to our orthopedic patients. You will work closely with a Nurse Manager and be empowered to apply your nursing skills independently, managing a variety of clinical situations.
As a part of our team, you will commit to weekend shifts, starting Friday evening at 7:00 PM through Monday at 7:30 AM, either in full-time or part-time status.
Essential Functions

• Conduct thorough nursing assessments and collect pertinent patient data, using age-appropriate tools to recognize changes in patient status.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans catering to the unique needs of each patient.
• Continuously update care plans based on patient progress and ensure smooth communication among the healthcare team regarding any changes.
• Set realistic and measurable goals for patients leading up to discharge, involving families in the planning process.
• Respect and incorporate patients' cultural and spiritual beliefs into their care plans.
• Facilitate a seamless transition for patients post-discharge, ensuring continuity of care through appropriate referrals.
• Deliver direct nursing care according to established plans and oversee nursing tasks delegated to team members.
• Maintain high standards of patient care by monitoring quality and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Utilize technology and cost containment principles effectively in daily nursing practice.
• Perform regular assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, documenting progress and updating when necessary.
• Engage in continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and making recommendations to enhance care quality.
• Assess and address patient and family learning needs, providing education in clear, relatable terms.
• Advocate for patients by coordinating care and collaborating with the healthcare team effectively.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibility
• This position is non-management and reports to a supervisor or manager.
Minimum Requirements
• Education: Associate degree in Nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year as a registered nurse.
In Lieu Of
• Completion of the Prisma Health Nurse Residency Program or a comparable program may substitute for one year of RN experience.
• One (1) year of LPN experience may substitute for RN experience for internal candidates.
• A nursing diploma may be accepted in place of an Associate degree for applicants with RN licensure.
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
• Must hold a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or licensed in the state of practice.
