Job DetailsJob Location: Access Ambulatory Surgery Center - Auburn, NH 03032Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $45.00 - $55.00 HourlyPOSITION SUMMARY: The PACU RN demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgement and leadership in planning for the care of the surgical patient. The PACU RN is responsible and accountable for the planning, directing and provision of nursing care to patients in accordance with NH Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, and both clinical and administrative policies. The PACU nurse should be a strong communicator and have the ability and physical stamina to provide a high level of care under pressure. The PACU RN is responsible for the cleanliness of the PACU, procedure room and Medication room. The PACU RN maintains inventory of necessary supplies and medications ensuring medications are placed on the supply request forms and restocks work area as needed. The PACU RN participates in ASC based committees and tasks as needed. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards. Demonstrates the ability to perform Phase I recovery. Demonstrates the ability to perform Phase II recovery. Demonstrates ability to provide critical care nursing including hemodynamic monitoring, use of monitors, pumps, and accurate administration of medications. Performs a thorough assessment/reassessment in accordance with unit standards and or patient condition, and based on this assessment, plans and implements care appropriately. Demonstrates ability to intervene when patient condition warrants, per department protocol. Demonstrates transfer patients when patient condition is not appropriate for the skill level of the ASC. Demonstrates “critical thinking” skills in our pediatric and adult patient, per unit protocol. Provides for the privacy of patients/family in accordance with HIPPA regulations. Appropriately handles situations when ethical dilemmas arise. Identifies cultural/religious needs, language barriers, developmental, and educational needs, etc and modifies the plan of care as necessary to accommodate these needs. Monitors PACU/Medication room for supply/medication needs and informs the Director or person responsible for ordering. Demonstrates ability to properly utilize all equipment for specific procedures or seeks appropriate resource. Demonstrates self- direction above and beyond daily assignment and actively offers assistance to colleagues both internally and externally. Based on assessment, plans and implements care appropriately including the patient/family/significant other whenever possible. Utilizes ancillary services appropriately. Demonstrates collegially behavior of respect and consideration with regard to work environment, i.e. restocking rooms, returning equipment/supplies for other surgical procedures, cleaning work areas/station and or communicate as appropriate. Implements the discharge plan in a timely manner, in collaboration with other healthcare team members. Successfully complete BLS and ACLS. You may be asked to complete PALS. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures including set-up, patient care, specimen collection and handling, point of use testing and documentation, and proper utilization and care of all equipment needed. Identifies opportunities to improve performance within the unit and assists with the application of these opportunities ( Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement, QAPI) As a professional, understands the concepts of customer service and acts accordingly and with grace under pressure. QualificationsEducation & Qualifications: Associate Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred Active NH Registered Nurse License required BLS required ACLS required within 6 months of hire 1-3 years of experience required
