
Registered Nurse - PCU - Full Time Position in Gilliam, LA
Job Description
The competent Registered Nurse practices independently and is aware of all relevant aspects in the clinical setting. They provide both routine and complex patient care while focusing on long-term goals. The nurse continues to develop skills in managing various clinical nursing contingencies and effectively delegates tasks to optimize patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Exhibit leadership qualities in alignment with the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families based on the level of nursing practice.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assess the learning needs of patients and their families, providing education and identifying relevant resources.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Experience: One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications: BLS is required, and a current RN license in the state of employment or compact is necessary. Current ACLS certification is also required.
Position Requirements:
All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within their first 30 days of hire. New hires will be mentored by a trained staff member to fulfill initial onboarding requirements, which include competency validation in MedSurg-specific skills. Newly licensed RNs can participate in a residency program or other specific orientation, with skills and competencies documented through the tracking software.
Credential Grace Periods:
If additional credentials are required, a grace period to obtain the certification will apply based on experience level, with specific timeframes outlined for different certifications.
