Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night shifts, 3x12-hour nights per week (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), specific nights scheduled by the facility; includes every other weekend (Night)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $52 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality, evidence-based pediatric critical care for patients aged 0-17 in a PICU setting
• Manage neurology post-op patients with skill and attention to neurologic assessment and monitoring
• Deliver direct patient care including medication administration, IV placement, lab draws, and procedures as needed
• Administer chemotherapy per facility protocols when indicated and trained
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including the region's pediatric neurosurgeon, to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond rapidly and effectively in emergency situations to stabilize critically ill children
• Support unit staffing by floating as needed and mentoring colleagues when appropriate
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required; PICU experience is mandatory
• BCLS (BLS) and PALS certifications required
• Experience with neurology post-op patients is strongly preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Travel assignments accepted; unit will accept first-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience
• Ability to work nights and every other weekend as required
• Flu vaccine required per facility policy (medical or religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
• Strong pediatric critical care knowledge, including respiratory, neurosurgery, and heme/onc diagnoses
• Comfort managing neurology post-op care and related monitoring
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record documentation
• Skill in IV placement and lab draws, with chemo administration experience a plus
• Ability to manage acuity-based ratios (typical target 1:2, occasionally 1:3)
• Excellent communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
• Adaptability for night shift workflows and small-unit dynamics (8-10 bed unit)
