We are seeking a passionate Registered Nurse to join the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team in Connecticut's largest healthcare network.
About Us: The Greater Manchester Region employs approximately 2,500 professionals and includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a comprehensive 249-bed community hospital, and Rockville General, a 102-bed facility among other health services, catering to a diverse population of 300,000 across 19 towns.
Position Overview: As a Registered Nurse in the PACU, you will play a critical role in patient recovery following anesthesia, utilizing your nursing expertise to provide exceptional care. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to assess and manage patients' needs, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ conditions, considering psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural factors.
• Effectively manage pain through appropriate tools and techniques and educate patients and families on pain management.
• Develop and revise individualized care plans based on patient assessments and treatment responses.
• Adhere to medication administration protocols to prevent errors and ensure patient safety.
• Document patient care accurately and timely, reflecting the nursing process and care outcomes.
• Employ critical thinking and sound judgment to prioritize patient needs and delegate tasks effectively.
• Implement and evaluate teaching plans tailored to patient and family learning needs.
• Assist physicians with procedures in the peri-anesthesia setting while demonstrating airway management knowledge.
• Monitor patients’ cardiorespiratory systems, recognizing changes and responding appropriately.
• Prepare detailed reports on patient conditions for safe transitions of care.
Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program and possession of a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.
• Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support required upon hire.
• Critical care experience is preferred.
