About the Role As a Registered Nurse in our Preoperative Assessment Center, you will be essential in providing high-quality, cost-effective nursing services focused on the unique needs of our preoperative patients. Your ability to recognize potential perioperative risks and work collaboratively with healthcare providers is crucial for ensuring optimum patient safety and outcomes. Key Responsibilities • Conduct thorough assessments by effectively gathering and analyzing patient data, documenting concerns, and creating customized care plans. • Deliver patient-centered care while coordinating with healthcare teams and educating patients and their families to reach established health goals. • Identify and manage potential perioperative risks, partnering with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient admissions. • Demonstrate strong nursing competencies addressing the diverse requirements of patients across all age groups. • Provide outstanding customer service by responding empathetically to patient needs and safeguarding confidentiality. • Offer preoperative education in line with Hartford HealthCare standards. • Take part in quality improvement initiatives, mentoring staff to uplift nursing practices. • Engage in self-directed learning to uphold licensure and remaining competencies. • Carry out essential tasks like venipuncture, EKGs, and vital sign monitoring, while managing specialty consultations where needed. Qualifications • At least three years of varied clinical nursing experience, preferably in medical/surgical or acute care settings. Licensure and Certifications • Active RN license in Connecticut. • BLS and ACLS certifications required. Education • RN diploma or associate degree is required; BSN is preferred. Language Skills • Proficiency in English is required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong understanding of patient care standards in pre and post-surgical environments. • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities for effective interaction with diverse individuals. • Critical thinking and adept problem-solving skills. • Competency in general computer usage. • Able to provide patient-centered service and tailored care for varying age groups. • Detail-oriented approach with excellent prioritization skills.
