Registered Nurse (RN) - Primary Care (Smithville)
BJC HealthCare / Saint Luke's Health System is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Primary Care team in Smithville, MO. This role is essential in providing high-quality professional nursing care, coordinating patient services, and ensuring seamless clinic operations.
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive clinical care in accordance with established medical standards. This position is heavily focused on telephone triage and patient coordination, requiring a clinician who can balance autonomous decision-making with collaborative teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
• Clinical Care & Triage: Manage high-volume telephone triage for multiple providers; assess patient needs, provide clinical advice, and schedule emergent appointments.
• Patient Coordination: Oversee patient flow and care coordination; perform IV insertions and administer medications as prescribed.
• Leadership & Delegation: Serve as a subject matter expert for patient education and assessment. Delegate tasks to clinical staff based on competency and scope of practice.
• Administrative Excellence: Accurately document patient care, enter admission orders as directed by providers, and manage clinical inventory (e.g., monitoring expired samples).
• Cross-Functional Support: Maintain a professional demeanor while providing exceptional customer service. Flexibly support the clinic by performing MA or LPN duties as operational needs require.
Schedule
• Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Qualifications
• Licensure: Dual RN licensure in Missouri and Kansas is required. (Candidates without dual licensure at the time of offer must obtain the second license within 90 days of hire).
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience Preference: Minimum of one year of nursing experience is preferred.
• Skills: Exceptional communication skills for heavy telephonic interaction; ability to work effectively in both independent and team-based environments.
