Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients. The Clinic RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members in an outpatient clinic setting. Clinic RNs are pivotal members of the care delivery team headed by the physician and have specialized knowledge, skills, and ability pertinent to ambulatory care patient needs. Scope of performance includes prioritization and triage of care delivery, implementing established standing orders and protocols, performing procedures and therapies consistent with training and licensure. Responsibilities • Assess physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative and developmental skills as appropriate). • Seek and evaluate information from other members of the interdisciplinary team: patient, family, physician, non-nursing disciplines, support staff, and others. • Plan: Use assessment information and critical thinking to collaboratively develop an individualized plan of care. • Actively involve patient, family, team, and physician to develop the plan of care including needed education. • Collaboratively plan and prepare patients for further support needs once the current episode of care outcomes are met (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow-up). • Implement: Direct the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration as appropriate. • Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan of care, guidelines of care, and professional licensure provisions. • Demonstrate the ability to set priorities and coordinate patient care delivery through effective time, supply, and resource management. • Evaluate: Assess patient response to interventions through achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction of patient and family. • Revise the plan of care as indicated and reassess changes as appropriate. • Promote nursing professionalism and participate in the development of others. • Integrate legal and ethical standards into practice, comply with regulatory standards, practice within licensure, provide accurate and timely documentation, and understand legal implications of care delivery. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications • Current RN License in state of practice. • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. • Practice-specific certification as required by the clinical setting (e.g., ALS, PALS). • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their BSN within five years of start date. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. Physical Requirements • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. • Frequent verbal communication with patients, providers, and visitors; ability to hear and understand spoken information, including alarms, quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies. • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment; frequent computer use and documentation. • Ability to lift and move patients and to lift, carry, and transport supplies and equipment. • Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients; navigate crowded rooms with equipment and cords. • May be required to stand for extended periods. • For roles requiring driving: ability to drive a vehicle and read signs and signals. Location Location: Thornton Clinic Work City Thornton Work State Colorado Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 The hourly range for this position is listed below.
