E3, our combined telemetry and Progressive Care Unit, features 25 beds and a team of highly trained nursing and healthcare professionals equipped with exceptional critical thinking skills to provide top-notch care. Our skilled team specializes in treating complex stroke, vascular, neurological, and specialty surgery patients, in addition to intermediate care patients. We utilize innovative technology to foster a patient and family-centered environment that promotes care and healing.
JOB SUMMARY
As an RN, you will demonstrate clinical competence through the nursing process and by building strong nurse-patient relationships. You will assess and identify patient needs, establish care plans, and evaluate the care provided.
Qualifications
• Graduate of a nursing school; BSN preferred.
• 1 year of RN experience or completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program. 2 or more years of experience in similar clinical areas preferred.
• Current unrestricted RN license in good standing in Connecticut.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
• Ability to secure Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia test within 3 months of hire.
• Must achieve a score of 80% on the BKAT or complete a critical care course within one year of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications; Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic understanding of nursing principles and practices. Effective communication skills for technical and complex information sharing. Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with departments, employees, physicians, managers, and patients. Ability to manage multiple tasks, remain flexible, and be a strong team player. Competence to perform in high-stress environments and a commitment to customer service. Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval are required.
This position requires strong analytical skills to collect and interpret information from various sources, as well as the ability to react appropriately to changing situations, problems, or emergencies. Maintaining confidentiality is essential.
