
Registered Nurse Residency Internship in Forest Hill, LA
Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Registered Nurse, where you'll be responsible for patient assessment, care planning, and delivering high-quality nursing care to a diverse group of patients. You will have the opportunity to lead and supervise a team of LVNs/LPNs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, and other clinical/clerical associates. Your role may also include functioning as a charge nurse, catering to patients including older adolescents, young adults, adults, geriatric, and pediatric populations.
Responsibilities:

• Patient Care Planning:
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive nursing care plan addressing all identified patient needs.
• Prepare nursing elements for the interdisciplinary care plan before initial team discussions.
• Continuously review and update care plans in collaboration with team members.
• Patient Care Provision:
• Implement care according to the nursing and interdisciplinary care plans.
• Establish priorities based on patient acuity and needs.
• Provide safe, therapeutic care, and seek resources as necessary.
• Perform and document procedures accurately per nursing policies.
• Patient Care Evaluation:
• Evaluate patient responses and goal attainment with the interdisciplinary team.
• Revise nursing goals weekly as necessary.
• Document daily nursing progress notes and flow sheets for assigned patients.
• Teaching:
• Assess the educational needs of patients and caregivers, documenting their responses.
• Adapt and revise teaching materials to meet diverse patient education requirements.
• Explain procedures, tests, and disease processes clearly to patients and families.
• Act as a role model for health care students and colleagues.
• Support new staff orientation by sharing your knowledge and experience.
• Patient Care Communication:
• Report and document patient conditions clearly and accurately to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain the confidentiality of patient information.
• Utilize effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills with care teams, patients, and families.
• Encourage open discussions among staff and seek to resolve conflicts constructively.
• Provide and receive constructive feedback appropriately.
• Identify and report unsafe patient care practices, offering suggestions for improvement.
Job Requirements:
Education/Skills:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience:
• Six months to a year of experience as a licensed RN or possession of an active Graduate Nurse permit.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
• BLS certification required.
• RN License in the state of employment or a compact license.
• Possession of a Graduate Nurse Permit.
• Associates with an unsuccessful licensing application or after 75 days from the temporary permit's effective date will be moved to another position within CHRISTUS Health.
