NEMASKET REHAB IS SEEKING RN'S TO JOIN OUR TEAM! POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall operation and optimal quality of care for the residents on the assigned unit. Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the facility's administration and Nursing policies and procedures. POSITION REQUIREMENTS - Education / Experience • Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Massachusetts. • Minimum of one year of education or experience in geriatric nursing or rehabilitation preferred. • CPR certified. • Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions. • Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment. • Working Conditions: Works in an appropriately lighted and ventilated environment. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required. Ability to perform physically demanding work involving frequent bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and reaching above the shoulders are involved. • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics/equipment that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Administers medication and treatments according to the physician's orders. • Assumes responsibility for ordering medications. • Transcribes, documents, and implements physician's orders. • Collects data to assist in the nursing assessments during each shift. • Gives daily shift report to CNAs assigned to the unit prior to the start of the shift. • Reviews written daily assignments for each resident on assigned unit. • Assures assignments are completed before the end of the shift. • Gives and takes nursing report on assigned unit. Communicates essential information to appropriate parties. • Makes rounds on assigned residents at least once every two hours. • Collaborates with Care Plan Coordinator to develop and maintain nursing care plans and update these plans on a regular basis and as the resident's condition changes. • Attends and participates in interdisciplinary resident care conferences as requested. • Assists the attending physician with rounds and special procedures as needed. • Participates in the yearly written evaluations of nursing assistants and documents accurately their strengths, weaknesses and the steps that need to be taken to improve their performance. • Assists Staff Development with orientation and on-the-job training for new nursing personnel as needed. • Collaborates with nursing supervisor in documenting disciplinary concerns for nursing assistants on designated shifts, including reprimands, oral and written warnings, and corrective action recommendations. • Notifies nursing supervisor, resident’s physician, and family of a change in the resident’s condition or an accident/incident involving the resident. • Assumes any duties that are assigned by the Supervisor/ADNS to provide optimal quality resident care. • Performs other related duties and attends meetings as may be deemed necessary by Supervisor / Administrator and or Director.
