Position Overview:

The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) specializes in the care of patients undergoing various cardiac and vascular surgeries. Procedures often performed in the CVOR include coronary artery bypass surgery, valve replacements, heart transplants, aortic artery repairs, vascular bypass, endarterectomies, and endovascular cardiac surgeries. As a nurse in the CVOR, you will play a vital role within a highly skilled interdisciplinary team, collaborating closely with cardiac and vascular surgeons, advanced practice providers, surgical technologists, perfusionists, anesthesia providers, and support staff. Additional Responsibilities Include:
• Primarily serving as a circulating nurse in one of our seven cardiac or vascular operating rooms, managing a high volume of approximately 30 open heart cases weekly.
• Participating in on-call obligations for covering weeknights and both weekend days and nights after completing the orientation process.
• Collaborating with the surgical team to deliver patient-centered care to high acuity patients.
• Ensuring that all necessary surgical equipment and supplies are present and properly arranged in the operating room for each procedure.
• Assisting with the cleanup of the operating room post-procedure, ensuring appropriate routing of equipment and materials.
• Providing tailored and professional patient care in the operating room setting.
• Adhering to hospital protocols and the standards set by AORN, ASPAN, and SGNA in patient care.
• Engaging in patient education, considering the specific age and cultural needs of patients in planning and providing care.
• Contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
• After orientation, flexible scheduling options may be available, including evening or weekend shifts.

Qualifications
• Current active CT RN License
• Previous OR experience is required; OR novice nurses, including graduate nurses, may apply to the OR Nurse Transition to Practice Program
• BSN preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained upon hire
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate independent problem-solving abilities
• Exhibit strong communication skills
• CNOR certification is preferred
