Responsibilities
• Standards of Practice: The RN's practice aligns with the ANA Scope and Standards, demonstrating competence through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Standards of Professional Performance: The RN engages in professional activities that cover ethics, culturally competent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based research, quality of practice, professional evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
This role demands accountability to patients, peers, and the broader community while fostering an environment of continuous quality improvement and professional growth.
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within the first month of employment.
Experience: The RN serves as the essential role encompassing all nursing responsibilities, with opportunities for advancement through the SPIRE clinical program encouraged.
Licensure: Must be licensed and registered as a nurse in Connecticut. Clinical specialty certifications are highly encouraged.
Special Skills: All RNs are encouraged to pursue further development via the SPIRE program.
Physical Demands: This position requires prolonged standing and walking, along with the use of sight, hearing, and touch. Nurses may encounter exposure to infectious diseases, physical and emotional illness, and end-of-life situations. Candidates must be prepared for moderate stress levels and potential injury risks from patient care, with the capacity to assist in lifting patients weighing from 5 to 300 pounds.
