We are seeking an experienced and committed Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic and innovative organization. This full-time, Registered Nurse will provide services to Project Harmony clients in a compassionate, professional, ethical and knowledgeable manner. The Registered Nurse will provide nursing support to the medical providers and will at times also be responsible for medical evaluation, care and treatment for children of suspected abuse. Our Values Project Harmony and all employees are committed to creating a culture that is focused on : Diversity and Inclusion : Respect and embrace diversity and inclusion of all Strategic Innovation : Lead the field in response to the evolving needs of children and families Quality Service : Ensure consistent, high quality service with impactful results, to our families, our partner agencies, the community, and each other Collaborative Relationships : Build trusted relationships by leading with honesty, integrity, vulnerability, and humility Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Manage the daily operation of the medical clinic to include rooming patients, scheduling / intake of foster care exams and hair tests, medication administration as required / directed by Project Harmony's protocol, testing and lab coordination and organization / stocking of supplies • Provide nursing support to the medical providers during examinations and will at times be responsible for the medical evaluation, care and treatment for children of suspected abuse as directed by protocol. This is to include accurate and complete electronic health record and ETO documentation of clinical services and phone calls • Enter lab results, conduct follow-up phone calls, perform follow up testing as indicated and help manage patient documents for electronic medical record and file • Complete electronic health record documenting and ETO documenting of clinical services and phone calls • Maintain supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipate needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipt of supplies • Conduct hair testing for drug exposure of children as directed by USDTL. Manage hair test forms, logs, sending out and receiving results. This management will also include updating the appropriate parties of the results • Coordination of care with families, investigators and community providers • Provide testimony, as needed, in court regarding medical examinations performed on children • Provide child abuse education to professionals in partner agencies and in the community • Rotate 24 / 7 on-call responsibilities and be flexible with schedule and call needs • Ensure culturally competent services are provided to all families we serve without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, gender or sexual orientation • Other duties as assigned by the Medical Program Manager Requirements Qualifications Education • Registered Nurse degree from an accredited educational institution • Licensed in Nebraska as a Registered Nurse • Attain Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), pediatric and adolescent, training within six months of hire • Keep up to date with all continuing education requirements for state license and / or any other certifications that may be held Experience and Training • Experience in medical examinations of children • Some training and experience in the child welfare system, and working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), desired but not required • Experience with Electronic Health Records useful Knowledge / Skills / Abilities • Ability to establish rapport with children / families of child abuse and neglect • Demonstrate effective listening and communication skills • Demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to resolve conflicts • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, Word, etc.) as well as other software and databases (EPIC, ETO etc.) • Ability to be flexible and adjust to stressful and ever-changing situations • Ability to be organized and detail oriented • Must possess time management skills • Must respect and maintain confidentiality Other • Must be willing to work flexible hours • Must submit to a thorough criminal history background check • Must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance • Position may involve some travel, primarily within the state The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
