Job Overview
Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Critical Care Float Pool at our M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital located in Edina, MN.
Fairview Southdale Hospital offers care to people living and working in the southwest Twin Cities metro area. With more than 40 specialty services, we combine talents to balance innovative technologies and treatments with the art of medicine. Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift (7PM - 7:30AM). This position will also work a rotation for every 3rd weekend. The RN role offers an additional $2.00/hour for being in the Float Pool.
About The Critical Care Float Pool At Southdale Hospital
• As a RN on our team, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in multiple units!
• You will float to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Emergency Department (ED).
• In a less frequent capacity - may float to Neuro, Cardiac Telemetry, Surgical, and IMC units.
• There may be additional opportunity to cross train more areas if needs dictate, such as Post-Partum, EmPath, Endoscopy, etc.

As an ICU RN, you will be responsible for:
• Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;
• Developing an individualized nursing plan of care;
• Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care;
• Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;
• Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes;
• Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate;
• Demonstrating the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes;
• Promoting a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and
• Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
Responsibilities
• Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
• Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
• Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
Required Qualifications
• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
• One year acute care RN experience
• ACLS required at time of hire
• NIHSS certification completed by end of orientation
• TNCC and ENPC certifications required within one year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Current Critcal Care Experience
• TNCC certification at time of hire
• ENPC certification at time of hire
