
Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical Care Float Pool Position in Branford, CT

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and oversee individual patient care on our nursing units. You will provide leadership to non-RN personnel and, when in a charge role, delegate and supervise unit activities. Flexibility is key, as you may be required to work across various units based on patient and staffing needs.
Responsibilities
• Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care journey.
• Develop, communicate, and document personalized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Implement and coordinate care plans effectively with healthcare team members.
• Evaluate care plan outcomes, patient responses, and discharge readiness, revising plans as necessary.
• Design educational opportunities based on individual patient and family needs and document the learning outcomes.
• Act as a preceptor for new staff members.
• Take on charge nurse responsibilities when needed.
• Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
• Execute additional duties as assigned to maintain departmental operations.
• Exhibit competency in neuro patient care and showcase skills in neuro assessments and airway management.
• Demonstrate knowledge in caring for patients with tracheostomies and during special neuro procedures.
• Perform suctioning procedures according to established policies.
• Show proficiency in managing patients in halo braces and on ventilators.
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN is preferred. Proficient in electronic patient records and able to utilize the internet for literature searches relevant to patient care.
Experience
No specific experience required.
Licensure
Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License required.
Special Skills
BLS certification is required.
Additional Information
Med/Surg RN experience is a must.
