Job Summary:
Works alongside the clinical team to provide patient care to people with end-stage renal disease. Monitor and disinfect the dialysis machine and water treatment systems. Provides direct care to dialysis patients.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
• Evaluates patient care by reviewing patient records; noting changing conditions and needs; measuring health outcomes against patient care standards; re-evaluating care objectives; modifying nursing care plan; making or recommending necessary adjustments;
• Utilize infection prevention and control procedures according to policy.
• Direct patient care to include initiating and discontinuing non-catheter treatments, educating patients and monitoring ongoing dialysis treatments to include patient vital signs, and machine parameters, and assessing for the safety of the treatment and patient at all times.
• Collaborates with the patient, family and multidisciplinary team to coordinate all facets of patient care.
• Assemble and tear down dialysis machines. Inspects machines to ensure testing is performed and readiness of machines in the dialysis unit.
• Disinfection and sanitation of dialysis machines and water treatment systems. Drawing water samples and cultures/endotoxins.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
• High School Diploma General or GED Required
• Associates Nursing Required
• Bachelors Nursing Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support or ACLS-P - ACLS-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
Required Minimum Experience:
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience Required
• Minimum 3 years experience in healthcare, or institutional work setting Required
• Minimum 5 years experience working in a health care setting or system Required
Required Minimum Skills:
• Suitable clinical experience, dedication to patient care and safety, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, good interpersonal skills, venipuncture, ability to multitask, excellent teamwork
• Requires the ability to be self-directed and quality focused.
• Expert knowledge/experience in managing all aspects of Clinical Documentation Integrity, including CDI productivity, quality, education and training, compliance auditing, data analysis and trending, report management, performance improvement initiatives
• Demonstrate effective communication skills and collaborates with medical staff, clinical departments, and key facility leadership team members Medium
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines, procedures, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to recommend and implement practical and efficient solutions
