Job Summary
• This will start out as an 8-hour position with a goal of transitioning to 12-hour shifts
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong high-risk L&D experience to join a new and growing team. We are opening a Special Delivery Unit in Spring of 2026 and we are looking to have clinicians that are ready to be a part of this new innovative department. As part of the comprehensive fetal care vision, Rady Children’s will be opening a Special Delivery Unit where families with high risk babies, low risk mothers can receive fetal intervention and deliver in the same place their baby needs to be to receive their specialized care after delivery.
The Special Delivery Unit (SDU) will consist of triage, LDRP’s and ORs. Our team of registered nurses will care for and treat the maternal population during antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum. This will include ground breaking fetal intervention procedures. The role requires the nurse to ensure quality care is provided according to policies and procedures and completes other duties as assigned. Functions as an expert practitioner whose intuition and skill arise from comprehensive knowledge thoroughly grounded in experience. Able to identify situations, formulate solutions, initiate change, and monitor outcomes. All while focused on our family centered care.
Pay Range
Minimum $52.93 Midpoint $70.13 Maximum $87.32
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
• Required: Minimum two (2) years of experience in clinical specialty Labor and Delivery
• Preferred: Experience in high risk Labor and Delivery
Education
• Required: Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing; Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) within 2 years of hire
Specialized Skills

• Preferred: Clinical Nurse III or IV.
Licensure
• Required: California RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Plan (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) fetal monitoring and/or National Certification in fetal monitoring (C-EFM)
• Preferred: National Certification related to Obstetrics
