
Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg Tele in Wilmington, NC
Job Description
**Title**
RN — ED Holding Support (EDIP) — Float Pool
• *Schedule**
Shift: Days
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• *Assignment Details**
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• *Requirements**
- Minimum 2 years RN experience
- License: NC or Compact license pending
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Charting experience with Epic preferred
- EKG testing must be passed prior to start
- Skills: MS/Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
- IV/PICC management, peripheral line care, phlebotomy
- Blood product administration, heparin, and insulin protocols
- Airway/oxygen support: nasal cannula, oxygen masks, HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP
- Tracheostomy care, oral suctioning
- Feeding tube and colostomy care
- Chest tube management
• *Roles & Responsibilities**
- Assess and monitor patients in the ED holding area.
- Administer medications and manage IV therapy.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and specialists.
- Provide patient education and support to patients and families.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the care process.
- Participate in rapid response and code situations as needed.
• *Compliance / Notes**
- COVID-19 vaccine: Not required
- Flu vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- RTO policies: Conflicting facility notes; auto-approval up to 7 days RTO (no holidays)
- Candidate must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- References: Two manager/supervisor references from past 12 months preferred
- Orientation: 12 hours
- Fatigue policy: No more than 5 consecutive workdays and/or >60 hours/week
