Position: Registered Nurse, RN - Med/Surg (Part-Time Night Shift) Location: Fairlawn Registered Nurse, RN – Med/Surg (Part‑Time Night Shift) (Healthcare) Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible through nursing processes for providing and coordinating nursing care and resource management for patients as well as families and communities; with the goal of attaining, maintaining and resorting optimum health. He/she utilizes judgment and is guided by knowledge of basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical and psycho‑social sciences. Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities Compiles a total nursing assessment within the initial shift or specified time frame. Assessment includes the following factors: biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self‑care, educational needs and discharge planning; Develops a nursing plan of care based on identified nursing diagnosis, patient care needs and standards and consistent with the therapies of other disciplines; Applies a systematic problem‑solving approach in developing, implementing and evaluating nursing plans of care; Documents implementation of the plan of care; Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care and outcomes at least daily, making revisions as appropriate. Introduces self as a Registered Nurse, defines the role to the patient/significant other and orients them to the nursing unit; Demonstrates consideration in communicating with patients/significant others and expresses genuine interest in patients welfare; Involves the patient and/or significant other in decision making regarding nursing care, in setting goals and in preparing and implementing teaching and/or discharge plans; Teaches patients/significant others at their level of understanding and readiness; documents response to teaching and need for follow‑up instructions. Provides safe administration of medication; provides for safe administration of intravenous therapy. Interprets clinical data/patient responses and collaborates with members of the health care team to provide comprehensive and coordinated patient care; Utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to monitor timely achievement of identified patient outcomes within anticipated lengths of stay; Communicates pertinent information throughout all phases of the nursing process; Communicates effectively with physicians and other disciplines to exchange patient information; Provides prompt, accurate shift report, shares all pertinent patient care information throughout assigned shift. Documents relevant observations of patients progress, psychosocial status, response to therapy and completion of physical/nursing orders; Prioritizes work and makes changes as situations warrant. Demonstrates competency in basic nursing practice required to manage and provide total patient care through the application of CCOCs philosophy, policies and procedures; Demonstrates knowledge and skill in providing treatment. Maintains accountability while delegating nursing care responsibilities according to patient care needs and staff competencies; Demonstrates and promotes effective management skills and contributes to the efficient operation of the unit; Assumes leadership role as necessary; Provides staff orientation, training, instruction, guidance, and supervision as necessary; Acts as a role model by maintaining positive behaviors when interacting with patients, visitors and other members of health care team. Transcribes orders and performs other clerical duties as necessary. Ensures Hourly Patient Rounding is incorporated in to the daily Patient Care routine; Participates in ongoing evaluation to ensure quality nursing care. All other duties not specifically assigned. Position Requirements Education: N/A Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in field or profession preferred. Technical Skills: N/A Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Current and valid license to practice as registered nurse in the State of Ohio; BLS required within 3 months of hire; ACLS required within 1 year of hire. #J-18808-Ljbffr
