About Backus Hospital: We are the primary healthcare provider for much of Eastern Connecticut, housing the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties and offering unique LIFE STAR helicopter services to our community. Job Summary - NICU: As a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, you will demonstrate exceptional clinical competence through the nursing process, fostering a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Your responsibilities will include assessing and identifying patient needs, developing personalized care plans, implementing interventions, and evaluating the effectiveness of care provided. Qualifications: • Education: Graduate of a nursing school; BSN or MSN preferred. • Experience: One (1) year of RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program; two (2) or more years of experience in the NICU preferred. License and Certification: • Current unrestricted RN license in good standing in the State of Connecticut. • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire. • Ability to obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 60 days of hire. • Ability to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications. • Registered Nurse Core Certification (RNC - NIC or CCRN) preferred.
