Job Summary
Join our dedicated team and provide compassionate care in an acute inpatient setting. As a Registered Nurse, you will be instrumental in fostering patient-centered care, demonstrating clinical competency, and utilizing evidence-based practices in all nursing processes including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. You will work to uphold safety protocols, ensure quality improvement, and adhere to compliance and organizational policies.
Bonus Eligible
This position offers a sign-on bonus of $15,000 for external candidates.
Unit Overview
Our Neuroscience and Stroke Unit is a 28-bed telemetry unit, providing specialized care for neurosurgical patients and neuro patients with conditions such as seizures and strokes. With a standard nurse to patient ratio of 1:4, you will have the opportunity to provide focused care in a supportive environment.
Essential Functions

• Conduct thorough nursing assessments, recognizing changes in patient status, and documenting findings accurately.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to develop personalized care plans.
• Adjust care plans based on patient progress and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Set achievable goals for patient outcomes and involve families in care discussions.
• Respect diverse cultural, spiritual, and personal beliefs when planning care.
• Ensure smooth transitions post-discharge, coordinating referrals and follow-up care.
• Deliver direct patient care as outlined in the nursing plan.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and oversee the completion of assigned duties.
• Maintain a safe and effective environment for patient care.
• Utilize performance indicators to monitor quality and effectiveness of nursing interventions.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to quality assurance processes.
• Assess and address the learning needs of patients and families.
• Advocate for patients and ensure coordinated care across the healthcare team.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as required.
Supervisory Responsibility
• This role does not involve management responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements
• Education: Associate's degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience: At least one (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
Other Considerations
• Completion of the Prisma Health Nurse Residency Program or a comparable program may substitute for the experience requirement.
• Internal candidates with one (1) year of licensed practical nurse (LPN) experience in the same service line may also qualify.
Required Certifications and Licenses
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina.
