Our Med/Surg Observation Unit is a fast paced 24 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit. Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. Our nurse patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our care team includes a charge nurse and unit assistants with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a 6-8 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team, complemented by classroom courses, and a nurse residency program for new graduates. Job Summary Job Summary RN essential functions include, but are not limited to: • Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate • Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate. • Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy • Evaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions. • Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed. • Professional Practice Qualifications Education • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Experience • Previous hospital experience helpful preferred. (Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensure / Certification • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license. • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment. • New grads are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program. Schedule 7a-7p Work Shift Day Position Type Regular Full Time Education • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
