DescriptionChoices for People Center provides year-round support and instructional programs designed to aid individuals with disabilities in developing essential life skills. These skills promote inclusion, independence, self-sufficiency, and productivity; and aim to maximize the individual’s quality of life in the least restrictive environment possible. Choices for People Center assists in individual goal-oriented program planning, and acts as an advocate in the community through the removal of attitudinal, architectural, environmental, financial, employment-related, communicational, transportation, and other barriers. Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinical oversight, nursing consultation, and health-related support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role ensures that nursing services are delivered in accordance with professional standards of practice, physician orders, DMH and Medicaid requirements, and organizational policies. The RN collaborates with individuals served, direct support professionals (DSPs), guardians, physicians, pharmacies, and interdisciplinary teams to promote safe medication practices, effective care coordination, and high-quality health outcomes in community-based settings. Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive): Provide nursing oversight and consultation related to the health and medical needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. Review, interpret, and implement physician orders, medication protocols, and nursing-related procedures. Support safe medication administration practices, including monitoring, reconciliation, and error prevention. Provide nursing education, guidance, and consultation to DSPs and other staff as assigned. Complete accurate, timely, and confidential nursing documentation, including assessments, medication administration records, incident reports, and care coordination notes. Ensure compliance with DMH, Medicaid, and other applicable regulatory and licensing requirements. Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards. Communicate effectively with individuals served, guardians, DSPs, managers, physicians, pharmacies, and interdisciplinary team members. Prepare clear written reports, correspondence, and nursing-related documentation. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and care coordination activities as needed. Utilize electronic health records, data-based systems, and Microsoft Office applications for documentation, tracking, and reporting. Maintain accurate records to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance. RequirementsEducation and/or Experience:Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program (Associate Degree in Nursing or higher) required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Missouri required Experience providing nursing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or in community-based, long-term care, or behavioral health settings preferred Experience with medication management, care coordination, and regulatory documentation (e.g., DMH, Medicaid) preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of nursing practices and standards of care related to individuals with developmental disabilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read, interpret, and apply professional nursing literature, physician orders, and regulatory requirements. Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate with both clinical and non-clinical staff. Ability to use electronic health record systems, clinical software, and agency technology platforms to support documentation, communication, and compliance. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential health information with professionalism and discretion. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Physical Demands:Ability to move and stand for prolonged periods. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to kneel, stand, sit, crawl, crouch, reach, or climb as needed.
