Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Oncology Dept

Work hours: Full Time (7A-7P) 36 hour work week – Rotating Weekends/Holidays
Department highlights:

· Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
· Fast-Paced, high-volume Oncology Department (35 bed) . Patients are admitted to this floor for multiple diseases such as Leukemia, Sepsis, Lymphoma, Melanoma, Breast, Kidney/Pancreatic Cancers, pain management and med/surg overflow. · This is a mixed acuity unit. You will have the opportunity to build your skills caring for higher acuity PCU patients with a lower patient ratio.
Here’s What You Need
· Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma Required
· BSN preferred
· One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
· Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
· Current BLS (required) –prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
· CPI training within 90 days of hire (required)
· 2+ years of inpatient oncology RN experience and charge/preceptor skills (preferred)
· Successful completion of the ONS - Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate within 6 months of hire required
· OCN - Oncology Certified Nurse within 2 years of hire preferred
What You Will Do
Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
· Assesses the patient
· Plans the care of the patient
· Intervenes as appropriate
· Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
· Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
· Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
· Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
