Fairview  is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Operating Room team at our Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN.

Woodwinds Health Campus opened its 86-bed hospital in August 2000. Located on 30 acres of pristine wetlands in Woodbury, MN, it’s the only hospital in the southeast metro area. Schedule: This RN OR position will be working 48 hours every 2 weeks on the Day/Evening shifts. The schedule includes: 8 hour shifts M-F, off premise call on weekends (3-4 per year), holidays (1 per year), and nights (once every 2-3 weeks).  Staff need to be within 30 minutes of the hospital to meet call requirements.

  • Woodwinds is an acute care setting that can lead a variety of surgical specialties.
  • We have 6 Operating Rooms with surgical volumes on an average day can range from 15-25 cases.
  • Woodwinds Operating Room specifically focus on General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, Podiatry, OB/GYN, Plastics, ENT, and Ophthalmology.
  • This position will serve an adult patient population (16 years or older).

As an Operating Room RN, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing protective measures prior to operative or invasive procedure, including measures to prevent skin or tissue injury due to thermal, mechanical, electrical and chemical sources.
  • Confirming identity before the operative or invasive procedure and verifying operative procedure, surgical site and laterality.
  • Appling safety devices, performing required counts, managing specimen handling and disposition.
  • Demonstrating knowledge about the psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families regarding the operative or other invasive procedure.
  • Appling principles of aseptic technique while establishing and maintaining sterile fields.
  • Performing skin preparations, monitoring for wound contamination, and classifying the surgical wound.

 

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)


Required Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Must meet one of these requrements - Operating Room RN experience, RN with current hosptial expereince and successful completion of Peri-op 101 cours, or New Grad RN with three years of clinical OR experience.   

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 2 year OR experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) depending on the unit and patient population
