Shift Details: 12-hour shifts with flexible start times at 7:30 am, 8 am, 9 am, or 10:30 am. Staff members work variable schedules, including rotating weekends and call shifts during holidays, with potential additional call required.

About the Role:
As a Registered Nurse in our collaborative and diverse team, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care. Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, you will utilize evidence-based practices to meet the holistic needs of patients and their families. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing care plans that reflect best practices and addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of those in your care.
Qualifications:
• Education: Graduate of a nursing school.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of experience or successful completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
• License and Certification: Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Connecticut, BLS certification upon hire, with the ability to obtain ACLS and PALS certifications within 90 days of hire. Maintenance of department-specific certifications will also be required.
• Preferred Qualifications: BSN or MSN; two or more years of experience in the clinical area; certification in clinical specialty; Certification as a Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN).
Skills and Abilities:
• Understanding of nursing principles and practices.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively relay complex information and instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
This role requires a high analytical ability to assess and interpret information. You will be equipped to respond effectively to changes, emergency situations, and other challenges while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
