Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - PCU
Overview:

This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of acuity levels, from MedSurg to Intermediate Care, providing comprehensive care for diverse patient diagnoses. Pay Package: $2,280 Weekly Pay
Shift: 12 hours
Required Skills:
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, with prior EPIC charting proficiency
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips and manage line and drain devices
• Experience with insulin drips, vasoactive medications (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed, Betablockers) and titratable drips
• Competency in managing MedSurg and IMC patients, including wound care, line management, and medication administration
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to fluctuating patient acuity levels
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Graduation from an accredited nursing education program
• Prior experience in MedSurg, Stepdown, or Neuro units
• Epic EMR familiarity and successful first-time traveler experience (if applicable)
Other Requirements:
• Certified in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Flexibility to float within adult inpatient units, including MedSurg, Neuro, Ortho, and other specialties
• Participate in a two-day orientation, including online modules and shift preceptorships
• No mandatory call shifts; potential on-call opportunities are optional
• Availability to work six-week schedules with weekend rotations; willingness to work up to 4 out of 6 weekends if possible
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Free parking available
• Might be asked to precept students and meet monthly audit compliance (90%) for pain management scores
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher preferred
• Extensive experience with adult inpatient care, telemetry, and complex patient management
• Past management of high-acuity patients, including renal, pulmonary, and cardiac cases
Other Requirements:
• Proof of current RN license in South Dakota or appropriate state
• Ability to float across adult inpatient units as needed
